"It is well known that family participation in the education of their children enhances students' learning. Although families' ability to participate in their children's learning varies widely, it is the teacher's responsibility to provide opportunities for them to participate in a meaningful way." Family participation begins with the teacher communicating to the families about their child's progress, the instructional program, and inviting them to take on an active role in their child's education. When a teacher reaches out to the families, it demonstrates that the teacher is invested in and cares about their students' success.
