Using Questioning and Discussion Techniques involves much more than asking students a simple yes/no question. It calls for a teacher to become a facilitator of discussions where the teacher is not taking center stage, but all students are engaged in the dialogue and it is more between and among them rather than with the teacher. Questions that are framed in a manner that allows for open - ended responses, divergent thinking, challenge the students to extend their thinking and make connections to other learnings. Here, in this Component, questioning is being used to advance student learning rather than assess or check for student understanding.
